project dust

a first-of-its-kind research project led and facilitated by vagabondance seeks to provide an opportunity for men, ages 20-60, with no dance training, to engage, explore, and contribute to an artistic process and the development of an original community presentation.

in addition to the artistic component of the project, participants will be able to foster community and intrapersonal dialogue around the physical and emotional impact regular creative movement practice can have on the well-being of the broader community.

project duration (january-april 2024)

weekly project sessions will be held on monday evenings from 5:45-7:45 pm and will meet a total of 12 weeks between  january 15th and april 15th (with a break for the mardi gras holiday)

the criteria*

assessment: each project participant will receive a pre-, mid-, and post-assessment to measure the tangible benefits of participation across the psychosomatic and physical outcomes of the project. all assessment results will be compiled into a body of research aimed at promoting greater awareness of the impact creativity can have on cognitive, physical, and emotional health.

attendance: adult participants in the study are allowed one (1) absent day throughout the study and are expected to complete the full duration of the project. absences due to sickness and or extenuating circumstances are included in the allotted absent days.

video journals: all project participants will be asked to submit 4 video journals as part of the research study. these journal entries can be conducted on a mobile device and each participant will have a secure upload link to submit their recordings.
